About Port Douglas

Founded in 1877 the town of Port Douglas in tropical far north Queensland is situated 67km north of the town of Cairns and the Cairns International Airport. Port Douglas boasts the laid back atmosphere that befits the region and the village style atmosphere of the township.

The population of Port Douglas is just shy of 1000 people and most of the residents work in or are associated with the tourist trade.

Port Douglas is fortunate that it is surrounded by all of the natural assets of the region. The Great Barrier Reef to the east, world heritage rainforest to the north and Australian outback to the west.
